Olivia is a director, dramaturg, community artist, teacher and event coordinator working across art forms (including theatre, large scale community events, circus, dance, opera and music theatre).
Olivia was the Artistic Director of Riverland Youth Theatre from 2010-2014 where she lead an artistic program for young people aged 4-26 in the Riverland region of South Australia. Productions include Monomyth (Regional tour), In the Dark (Regional tour, Kumuwuki/Big Wave Regional Arts Conference, Goolwa and the 2013 Adelaide Fringe) and Water 2013 (in partnership with Kneehigh SA) a large-scale outdoor spectacle on the River Murray.
Olivia has also worked on the directing team of the Woodford Folk Festival Closing Ceremony in 2012/13, 2013/14 with director/designer Joey Ruigrok van der Werven and the Mooma Festival Parade 2008-9 with Sue Broadway.
Olivia’s experience as a director and associate director are with Melbourne Theatre Company (Affiliate Director 2003-2007), Malthouse/Playbox (Besen Family Artist Recipient 2008), Belvoir, ANPC (Playwriting Australia), Circa and St Martins Youth Theatre.
She has gained a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre & Film (Honours) 1999 University of New South Wales, and a Graduate Diploma of Performing Arts (Directing) 2001 Western Australia Academy of Performing Arts.
Olivia was nominated for a 2006 Green Room Award for direction. Her company Ignite was awarded Best Ensemble at the 2006 Melbourne Fringe and nominated for 3 Green Room Awards. It was also selected for the inclusion on the VCE syllabus play list for an unprecedented three times.
Olivia is currently the Artistic coordinator of FLOW a sound/textile installation with Kathryn Sproul, Christopher Bartlett and Jason Sweeney presented by Country Arts SA’s This is a River program 2014-2016 and the Riverland community at the McCormick Centre in August 2014.
Olivia is currently a member of the Melbourne Theatre Company’s 2014 Women Director’s Residency.
